Registrar Lock
Discover more about Registrar Lock and see how you could employ it in order to stop not authorized domain transfers.
Transferring an existing domain entails switching the domain registrar that handles the domain name registration service, so after the transfer, you’ll have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS resource record updates through the new domain registrar. The transfer procedure is standard with most universal and country-specific domain extensions. Some country-code extensions are more specific and entail different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain entails a few basic steps and one of them is unlocking the domain name. The lock is a security option, which is being embraced by more and more domain name registry organizations. It’s a standard feature supported by all generic top-level domain names. If a domain name is locked, it won’t be possible to start a transfer procedure, so nobody can even try to take your domain. The domain lock can be removed only through the account where the domain is registered in the first place and all new domains that support this feature are locked by default when they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Hosting
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each and every
hosting package that we offer, will grant you total control over your domains. You’ll see all domains registered through our company neatly displayed in alphabetical order in a separate section of the Control Panel. Those whose extensions support the domain lock option will have a tiny padlock icon next to them. By clicking on the icon, you can find out if the given domain name is locked or unlocked and you can change the current status by clicking again – the procedure is as simple as that. You won’t need to wait for the change to propagate or for our company to do anything, as the change of the status takes effect momentarily, even if you notice something else on WHOIS lookup websites. After all, it takes time for such sites to ‘refresh’ the info that they show.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have registered a domain through our company and you want to transfer it away, you can easily unlock it via the exact same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to manage your
semi-dedicated server account. All registrations will be listed in alphabetical order in your account and you’ll see a tiny padlock icon on the right side of each domain there, provided that its generic or country-code extension supports the registrar lock option. You can see whether the domain is locked or not by clicking on this icon and change the current status by clicking on it again. You can then proceed and start the domain transfer process straight away without waiting for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup sites, as the update will take effect momentarily without you or us having to do anything else.
